Crewdson, Jane
(1809-1863)
   Cornish-born Jane Fox married Thomas Dillworth Crewdson, a Manchester manufacturer, in 1836. She composed her poetry and hymns during periods of ill health and contributed several hymns to Squire Lovell's Selection of Scriptural Poetry, 1848. Her main publications are: Aunt Jane's Verses for Children, 1851. Lays of the Reformation, 1860. A Little While, and Other Poems, 1864. Some of her hymns and poems: "Tis Not the Cross I Have to Bear," "A Little While," "Give to the Lord Thy Heart," "Gratitude," "How Tenderly Thy Hand is Laid," "I've Found a Joy in Sorrow," "Looking unto Jesus," "Lord, We Know That Thou Art Near Us," "For the Peace Which Floweth as a River," "Savior, I Have Naught to Plead," "Thou Whose Bounty Fills My Cup," "One Touch from Thee," "The Followers of the Son of God," "There is No Sorrow, Lord, Too Light," "Though Gloom May Veil Our Troubled Skies."
